Managing Your Transition HRA

Accessing Your Account

To access your Transition HRA, you must first register your account.

  1. Go to www.mypayflex.com.
  2. Click "Login".
  3. Select "Register my account" (Note: Your Member Number is your 7-digit Employee/Retiree ID Number).

If you have already registered your account, simply log in using your 7-digit Employee/Retiree ID Number and the password you established.

Please note: The Transition Health Reimbursement Account (Transition HRA) is different from a Health Savings Account (HSA), and not all nonagreement employees or retirees have a Transition HRA. Please contact PayFlex at (800) 284-4885 if you are unsure if you have an account.

Check Your Account Balance(s) and Track Claims Transactions

PayFlex administers Union Pacific's Employee/Retiree Transition HRA (PDF File) . You can view your Transition HRA account balance at www.mypayflex.com.

Eligible Transition HRA Expenses

Your Transition HRA can be used only to pay for out-of-pocket dental or vision expenses incurred by you or your dependents. These expenses include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Eye exams.
  • Eye glasses and contact lenses.
  • Prescription sunglasses.
  • Over-the-counter reading glasses.
  • Saline/cleaning solutions.
  • LASIK surgery.
  • Dental exams.
  • Dental cleanings.
  • Crowns.
  • Fillings.
  • Orthodontic care.
  • Root canals.

Note: If you are enrolled in a UHC High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and you meet your annual deductible, any out-of-pocket medical expenses (including prescription drugs) may be paid/reimbursed from your Transition HRA. An Explanation of Benefits (EOB), which can be found at www.myuhc.com, must be submitted to PayFlex, along with the appropriate proof of expenses (i.e, doctor's bill) to verify that you have met your HDHP annual deductible.

Getting Reimbursed from Your Transition HRA

To receive reimbursement from your Transition HRA, you must submit a claim, along with the appropriate proof of expenses. This may be done by:

  1. Logging onto your account at www.mypayflex.com and submitting the claim online using PayFlex's "Express Claims;" or 
  2. Completing a claim form (PDF File)  and either fax (1-866-932-2567) or mail it to:

Is There A Deadline for Using Transition HRA Funds?

There is no time limit on when you have to spend-down your Transition HRA funds. The funds will remain in your account year-after-year until you exhaust it. Any remaining funds can also be used in retirement as long as you are enrolled in Union Pacific's Retiree Medical Plan.
