New, Faster Domestic Intermodal Service Between Los Angeles and Chicago

Dear Premium Intermodal Customers,
In an effort to better serve our customers and simultaneously penetrate volume moving over the road, Union Pacific is pleased to share that we have implemented a new ‘Z’ train service pair between the Los Angeles Basin and the Chicago metroplex.
Customers moving between City of Industry and Global 2 now have access to service yielding availability on day three, which will deliver a more consistent and reliable product. This product will compete with team driver truck service, unlocking access to even the most service sensitive freight moving in this key corridor. In addition, this product will speed up steel wheel interchange freight moving from LATC to both the NS and CSX Ohio Valley and Northeast U.S. destinations. Similarly, the westbound service from Global 2 to City of Industry and Inland Empire Intermodal Terminal is upgraded to a ‘Z’ train as well.
